Please send letter of protest

by War Resisters’ International

(04.02.2011) War Resisters’ International has been informed that Maikel Nabil Sanad, a conscientious objector to military service, has been arrested by military police in Cairo at 2pm today. The military police used a military jeep with number plate 440700. It is presently not known why he has been arrested, and where he is being held. However, we are very concerned for his safety, especially as Maikel Nabil Sanad is a conscientious objector, and had been arrested previously in November 2010.

We are concerned that the arrest of Maikel Nabil Sanad today is an attempt at getting back at a conscientious objector at a time of chaos.

War Resisters’ International calls for urgent letters/faxes of protest to the authorities of Egypt:

Director of Military Judiciary, Major-General Ahmed Abd Allah, Military Judicial Department, Cairo, Egypt, Fax: +202 2 402 4468 / +202 2 411 3452 (ask for fax)

Military General Attorney, Major-General Medhat Radwan, Military Judicial Department, Cairo, Egypt

+202 2 412 0980 (ask for fax)

Minister of Defence, His Excellency Muhammad Tantawi, Ministry of Defence, Cairo, Egypt, mmc(at)afmic.gov.eg ; mod(at)afmic.gov.eg

A protest email can be sent at http://wri-irg.org/node/12156.

War Resisters’ International demands the immediate release of Maikel Nabil Sanad.
