"What a good morning! Peter, Ali and all the rest of the Istanbul10 have been released"

(26.10.2017) Dear friends of the Istanbul10,

what a good morning! Peter, Ali and all the rest of the Istanbul10 have been released. Late last night the court decided to end their pre-trial detention. Peter and Ali are allowed to leave the country today and to be united again with their dearest.

The trial is supposed to be continued. The charges have not been dropped, they have not been declared innocent. But we are very relieved that they are all free and don’t have to stay in prison anymore.

In all our joy, we know we have to continue. In our thoughts we are also with those who are still innocently detained and their families and friends.

We keep on demanding:

Freedom for the Istanbul10 !

Drop all charges against them !

Protect human rights – in Turkey and everywhere !

Stay alert – while it is a great success, unfortunately it is not yet the end of the trial, but an important step for more human rights and the protection of human rights defenders!

Enjoy the day – like Peter, Ali as well as Günal Kurşun, İdil Eser, İlknur Üstün, Nalan Erkem, Nejat Taştan, Özlem Dalkıran, Şeyhmus Özbekli and Veli Acu today will enjoy the view of the clouds, the horizon, the wind in their hair, closeness to their dearest and freedom!
