Press Release concerning the death of Rudi Friedrich

(18.07.2025) Connection e.V. mourns the death of our long-standing Managing Director and friend Rudi Friedrich.

Rudi Friedrich died in an accident on July 14, 2025 during a hike in the mountains near Como/Italy while on holiday. The Italian mountain rescue team could only recover him dead.

He leaves a huge gap in our internationally active association, as he was not only its face, but also an internationally known activist, motivator and driving force in networking with other organizations in the field of conscientious objection, desertion and asylum for this group of people.

We have lost a fellow campaigner for peace, but we will continue the fight for a comprehensive right to conscientious objection and the protection of conscientious objectors, draft evaders and deserters worldwide.

Our thoughts are especially with his wife and family.
