Connection e.V. and WRI take the floor at the opening of the 60th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva

At the opening of the 60th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, on September 8th 2025, Jürg Lauber, President of the Human Rights Council, and ambassador of Switezerland addressed the Council with his remarks; also Volker Türk, UN High Commissioner for Human Rightsthe High Commissioner took the floor to present his global report.

«Connection e.V.», in partnership with «War Resisters’ International» (WRI), took the floor in the plenary during the long General Debate which followed the opening of session and delivered a statement which focused on the condemnation of war and the urgency to protect the human right to conscientious objection worldwide, and it also shared the alarm for the current repeated attempts to undermine international law, and in particular the human rights system.

On the same day «Connection e.V.» did participate in the briefing on the Russian Federation at the UN Committee on Economical, Social and Cultural Rights.
