Report of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Eritrea

(06.05.2022) The present report is submitted pursuant to Human Rights Council resolution 47/2, in which the Council extended the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of  human rights in Eritrea for one year and requested the mandate holder to present a report on the implementation of the mandate to the Council at its fiftieth session.

Expert opininion: Conditions and legal implications of Eritrea diaspora status

(May 2022) PRO ASYL and Connection e.V. have investigated the questions about the prerequisites and resulting legal guarantees of diaspora status and commissioned an expert opinion from Dr. Rezene Mekonnen and Amanuel Yohannes, proven experts on the Eritrean legal system. This is now available.

The experts come to the conclusion that diaspora status is only granted to those who have a secure residence abroad. If the German Federal Office of Migration revokes refugee recognition, the persons concerned cannot be granted diaspora status at all. So far, the Federal Office has ignored this question in its decisions.

Stop the war in Tigray

Demonstration: Let us stand up & raise our voices

(13.02.2021) On February 13, 2021, around 300 people demonstrated in Frankfurt/Main against the war in Tigray. They called to end the war. They condemned the crimes committed against the Eritrean refugees and the people in Tigray. They campaigned for the immediate withdrawal of the Eritrean army from Tigray: "We call on the international community to take action against Tyranny in Eritrea who have committed war crimes in the refugee camps in Tigray, and bring them to justice and impose sanctions on them now." The demonstration has been organized by Eritreans from Frankfurt.
