Israel: Two conscientious objectors behind bars

(30.07.2019) An IDF disciplinary body sentenced 18-year-old Israeli conscientious objector Maya Brand-Feigenbaum to 20 days in military prison on Tuesday over her refusal to serve in the military. The army has yet to release 20-year-old conscientious objector Roman Levin from military prison, despite a recommendation by the conscientious objector’s committee to do so.

Israeli army sentences conscientious objector to 30 days behind bars

(27.05.2019) An IDF disciplinary body sentenced Israeli conscientious objector Roman Levin to 30 days in military prison last week for his refusal to continue serving in the military. Upon completing his current sentence, he will have served a total of 80 days behind bars. Military conscription is mandatory for most Jewish Israelis.

Roman Levin sentenced to 30 days imprisonment

(10.03.2019) The Israeli army has sent Roman Levin to Military Prison 6, after he arrived at the military base where he had served for a year and a half and informed his commanding officer of his refusal to continue any further military service.

Israel: Refusers Hilel Garmi and Adam Rafaelov imprisoned again

(13.12.2018) Conscientious objectors Hilel Garmi, 19, and Adam Rafaelov, 18, from Israel have been imprisoned again for their refusal to serve in the military. Adam Rafaelov was sentenced to 10 days in military prison on 7th December. This is Rafaelov's seventh imprisonment since July. Upon completing his current sentence, he will have served 87 days in total behind bars. Hilel Garmi, who has already spent 97 days behind bars, has also been imprisoned again. On 11th December, Garmi was sentenced to 10 more days in military prison. This is Garmi's seventh imprisonment.
