Belarus: persecution of conscientious objectors to military service in the country

Connection e.V. reports to the UN Special Rapporteur on Belarus

(February 2025) Connection e.V. has worked in the last weeks to prepare a detailed report on Belarus, focusing on a conscientious objection to military service perspective to inform the report of the Special Rapporteur for the 59th session of the Human Rights Council (June 2025) about the situation of human rights in Belarus, with a focus on the right to vote and to be elected at genuine periodic elections and the situation of persons targeted for repression and/or deprived of their liberty for political motives.

Report on the situation of the right to conscientious objection in Burkina Faso

Connection e.V. has submitted a report to the United Nations Human Rights Committee to contribute to the review procedure of Burkina Faso at its 143rd session.
Of particular concern is the conscription system which is not in line with international standards and rule of law and the trial of civilians by military courts. 
There is not an effective protection of the right to conscientious objection to military service in the country.

Eritrea - Conscientious objction to military service and related issues

Connection e.V. reports to the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Eritrea

(February 2025) We submitted a report to the special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Eritrea, Mr. Mohamed Abdelsalam Babiker, to inform the report of the special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Eritrea to the 59th session of the human rights council.

(February 2025) We submitted a report to the special rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief to inform the Special Rapporteur’s report to be presented at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in October 2025.
