CONSEQUENCES FOR REFUGEES

WHEN?

September 26th, Friday
19:00

WHERE?
City Library, Bücherturm
Herrnstr. 84
63065 Offenbach am Main

In May 2024, the European Parliament decided to reform the Common European Asylum System (CEAS). There are fears that this will lead to further dramatic cuts in the fundamental and human rights of refugees. In the evening, Hannah Sommer, an employee of the «Munich Refugee Council», will explain the planned changes and outline what this means in concrete terms for refugees.

ADMISSIONS PROGRAMMS

Uploaded 01.09.2025

The German government has suspended all admission programs. There has been a lot of media coverage of the situation of the Afghan local group. However, the fact that this affects a large number of other people has been completely overlooked. Russian and Belarusian deserters, conscientious objectors, and draft dodgers have been deprived of their only legal means of escape.

SUBSIDIARY PROTECTION STATUS HAS BEEN GRANTED

Uploaded 01.09.2025

In its ruling of June 4, 2025, the Administrative Court of Wiesbaden granted subsidiary protection status to a Russian conscript who had evaded conscription. Recognition as a refugee was not the subject of the decision.
