First GI Café in Germany Opens Its Doors

(25.03.2012) U.S. soldiers in Germany now have a GI coffeehouse. The Clearing Barrel Bar and Café opened Saturday, March 24, in Kaiserslautern, Germany, home to Ramstein Air Base and Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, among a constellation of U.S. bases, with 50,000 U.S. military and civilian personnel living in the area. The grand opening was a big success.

(11.11.2011) My name is Chris, and I am an Iraq war, Veteran. I served in Baghdad in 2005-2006. I am joined today by Dave, a Vietnam veteran, and others who are here to support us as we participate in another occupation. This war will not be fought with guns and bombs, but with our ideas and our will to transform and reshape the world. This war is the war of the 99%, the vast majority of the population, standing up against 1%, the self styled elites whose control over the government and private sectors have brought them unimaginable wealth at the expense of normal people. We are here to stand in solidarity with you, the people, who have been oppressed and exploited by the corporate and political elites of the world, the bankers and the political powers that are at their beck and call.

(15.06.2011) War has been part of humanity from early on. It mainly emanates from human greed, hatred and abuse of power. All this evil has been igniting causes of war. However, it seems collective behaviour of humanity can win over all these elements of evil and achieve everlasting peace. On the contrary all humanity regardless of origin, race or geographic location shares a common desire for peace. Almost all religious teaching advocates for peace. This was evident from the World Council of Churches (WCC), International Ecumenical Peace Convocation (IEPC).

WRI 2010 conference in Ahmedabad

(05.02.2010) Nonviolent activists from 32 countries denounced development-induced displacement and corporate violence at the War Resisters’ International (WRI) conference held in Ahmedabad at Gujarat Vidyapith. WRI, Gujarat Vidyapith, Gujarat Sarvodaya Mandal and Sampoorna Kranti Vidyalaya have together organized the conference to investigate the links between militarism, war profiteering and the patterns of development pursued across the world today. Around 175 participants from 32 countries took part in the deliberations during the 25th WRI conference.
