Call for actions from 8 to 21 May 2023

Protection and asylum for all those from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine who refuse military service

Action weeks around the International Day of Conscientious Objection

We call to organise around the "International Day of Conscientious Objection", 15 May, rallies and demonstrations in front of Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian government institutions as well as EU representations, vigils in front of deserter monuments and many other creative actions in different places. Conscientious objection is a human right!

European Parliament resolution on Russia’s escalation of its war of aggression against Ukraine

(05.10.2022) Condemns the mobilisation in Russia, and calls for an immediate end to involuntary conscription; condemns the measures compelling residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine to serve in Russia’s armed or auxiliary forces, which is forbidden under the Fourth Geneva Convention; strongly appeals to all Russian people to avoid being dragged into this war, which violates international law and was therefore condemned by a large majority of countries.

"They were furious": the Russian soldiers refusing to fight in Ukraine

(12.05.2022) Troops are saying no to officers, knowing that punishment is light while Russia is not technically at war.

Folder to the campaign

Deserters and objectors from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine need our support

(10.05.2022) A folder is available to the campaign. Under the title "Deserters and Objectors from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine need our support" we briefly present our work for the deserters and conscientious objectors from these countries. In addition, we provide some background information on conscientious objection and desertion and on conscientious objection and asylum. A print template can be provided.
