Appeal for donations
For the international support of conscientious objectors and deserters
(25.11.2021) A few days ago, Beran Mehmet İşçi was recognised as a refugee. Finally, for him now there is a chance of looking into his future with freedom. We are very happy for him.
As a conscientious objector from Turkey, he had initially been rejected by the Federal Office for Migration because "Turkey’s compulsory military service does not in principle constitute persecution relevant to refugee protection". The Augsburg Administrative Court took a different view: "The plaintiff is threatened with persecution in his home country," it wrote in the judgement, referring to the European Court of Human Rights. Since there is no right to conscientious objection in Turkey, the European Convention on Human Rights is violated.
An intensive cooperation developed with Beran Mehmet İşçi. He took part in various actions and events. His commitment was and is a great enrichment for us.
With our work, we currently support conscientious objectors, e.g. from Eritrea, Israel, Ukraine, Syria or Turkey. In the future, we will continue to be on the side of people who decide to oppose war or refuse military service. Far too often they are threatened with repression and persecution. They need support. For this work, we kindly ask for your donation. We are happy about any support at https://en.Connection-eV.org/donation.
Thanks a lot. Your team from Connection e.V.
